Diff needed, getting very very close to NEEDING it..

Post by deanbayley » Mon Jan 26, 2015 11:03 pm

The build is progressing and I'm about a week away from being finished (by finished I mean back on the road, under sealed and resprayed) and without a diff I'm not going anywhere fast..

It's going to cost around £150 to have mine rebuilt with new bearings etc, would rather buy a full diff..

Dean.

Tbh that's a very good price for a full rebuild! or was that just for new pinion bearings and re-use of the side bearings.

I've got one I think but it needs pinion bearings.

Hi, who quoted you £150? My quotes have been closer to £300.

Cheers

Just saw these posts sorry guys, we have a guy that does all our gearbox recons..

That's for new pinion bearings, seal and crush collar..

I'm going to have a go myself, I've got a DTI gauge and my dad said he's rebuilt quite a few back in the day lol..

I'm still looking for another pair of diffs to put air lockers in, won't be able to afford those for several months yet..

As it stands I've shutz'ed the chassis and replaced all the leaf spring bushes with polybush type ones, changed all the suspension bolts, resprayed the steering box and replaced bolts, resprayed the fuel tank, fuel tank cage, finished most of the welding.. Early next week body will be back on and bodywork will be getting done, should be getting resprayed the week after..

Ordered 4 point harnesses and bought steel for the roll cage extension (also adding bar for harnesses), got new seat runners attached as old ones were rusted solid

Thinking about changing the engine for a G16B from a GV, first with stock ECU then eventually with a megasquirt (just because.. I've always wanted to take on the challenge) any opinions?

Dean.
