Where do you guys get your Checker and steel plate from?
What sort of price should I expect to pay.

I would like to turn my Zuk into a 'pickup' style plating behind the front seats, remove soft top, rear seats etc.

Also need some steel to repair rust spots / holes.

Where in the country are you?

Local scrap metal merchant. Cheap as chips (sorta).

I can't stand chequer plate....looks super ugly in my opinion.

If you want to cab the back in you want to cut the back off an old rusty tintop and use the rear door.

I used a soft top door and used to have the back closed with a cut down soft top, means you can still open it up in the summer.

I have seen the ones using a rear door look good,
thought about plate and then cut a 'window' in it. thought plate might be easier to weld in than sort the fiberglass etc to make a rear door fit.

ID think that getting a window to fit would be harder, though.

Perhaps you could tack the door in place, then using cardboard aided design and tin snips make slivers of metal to occupy the gaps, tack them in, then when you have it all trued up you can weld it all up?

I'd say that it depends on your skills with fibreglass/welder whether metal is easier...

My welding skills ... I have never done before ... so will pay or 'scrounge it' done for a few beers hopefully.
My brother restores classic cars and race preps them also for a living. Might be able to get him to do or show me how. (when his boss is away)
I do like the idea of a rear door being used, maybe mock it up, get all the bits ready then an hour or 2 of welding.
I could also build speaker pods etc into the door and other bits

Cheers do like that ... one more question, how did you attached the soft top to the car to form the rear panel ?

At the top it's sandwiched between the b-hoop and roof, then it was on poppers along the door with Velcro down the sides, sealed pretty well.
