A question or 4
I have some 245/70/16 AT2's on 30mm off set (sit out wider) wheels to go on my Vitara. they stand at about 28-29 inches
1. Will the standard drive train take the strain?
I have, on order, the nylon support bearing and new oil seal for drive shaft.
2. If I the arches are trimmed will they fit without a suspension lift?
3. if no to number 2 above will the GV springs/ shocks be enough to lift it, 1.5 inches I believe?
(with an arch trim)
4. if no to number 3 will pitting a 1 - 1 1/2 inch body lift on do the trick? with a lift and trm?
Hopefully I wont have to change gear sifts etc etc.
Cheers in advance for your advice

Can't help with 2-4, but number 1 the answer is yes, providing you either don't drive like you stole it, or you upgrade the front diff by bracing it or getting a steel diff carrier.
I got into 4x4's because of a mate of mine, Hilux Scottie. Before he was Hilux Scottie, he was Vitara Scottie. He ran 30" tyres. Never broke anything. His son ran a similar spec grand vit, and destroyed the front diff every time he went out.
So just think about what your foot does with the loud pedal and there's your answer, basically.

28" will not fit on a standard vit. Yes GV coils give a 2" lift and go straight in and you won't need to cut anything. It's what I did.

I think Scottie used spacer blocks from bits4vits. Bright orange things, from memory.
Are vits easy to mod the arches so you can run big tyres without messing with the suspension?

Cheers,
1st take photos as it is now
,
fit GV springs and shocks to rear,
fit spacers and GV springs in front.
Hopefully the above next weekend. if not to cold !!!
Offer up wheels tyres etc and see if arch trimming is required.
and or decide on a 1" body lift. giving 2 1/2 - 3 inches of lift. (total)
That should be the basic clearance sorted.
then tackle the body work.
turn into a cab, priced up mettle be around £50-60
then need someone to weld in
find a rear 'window' and fit.
Bumpers remove,
re-do fog lights number plates etc.
sell chrome bull bar and spots (anyone interested please let me know)
Also have a set of 5, 15" wheels up for grabs soon, tyres are a bit naff tho (3 are legal just)
1st time I have had a good little project to do and can't wait pity it is so cold outside !!!
