Hi all, have a refurbed Rockwatt 413 box, as mine is shot. From the Haynes manual it looks straightforward to swap, BUT are there any bits I need before starting the job - the odd seal or whatever. I've just finished an SU conversion and was very frustrated needing little bits and waiting days each time!!
Can I do it easily in a day??

If you are just swapping the box it should be a very easy job...
Remove props, 4wd light wire, mounts.... put new one in
they are quite heavy though, when you are fucking about underneath a truck lol

Simple enough to remove, don't forget to undo the gaiter inside the cab or it won't drop down, undo the 3 bolts that attach the arms to the chassis and you can drop and twist it out then bench press it back in

Thanks all - so definitely no boots, seals etc needed before I start? And as I understand the input shaft is splined in, does it just slide out? 'Bench press it back in' - is that the input shaft taken from existing and pressed into new box??

the input shaft is splined into the gearbox
its easy to remove it from inside
take the gaiter off and you can see the 4 bolts holding it on at the tbox end.
if you put both sticks in neutral you can spin the shaft around freely to get to the other bolts
once the bolts are removed the prop will slide easily out of the back of the gearbox... and slide back in easily too!
Oh you will also have to remove the speedo cable which I think is just a 12mm headed bolt

Once the props , speedo cable , 4wd light switch
And gaiter have been removed. I usually put
The box into 4low. Then under the car I removed the 3
Tbox rubber mount nuts (14mm) and I remove the passengers
Side mount bracket from the tbox also 4 x 12mm . Ive found this just
Gives a bit of extra wiggle room.
