Rear Disk Conversion Questions

Hello all once again i find myself asking questions and i know i will get the right answers here.

Firstly what i have:
Sj410 Rear diffhead and housing
Sj410 and 413 rear axles and drums

What i am wanting to do is do the rear disk conversion. I have managed to get my hands on some more asin calipers i now have 5. So one spare. The idea is for me to run my Sj410 diffhead and housing but use the drums of the 413 and backplates for the conversion as kiwizook needs my 410 drums and backplates.

Problem i know they are quite different the 410 backplates fit over top of the rear wheel bearings but the 413 doesnt. Can i still use the 413 backplate? If so can i cut it so it fits over the wheel bearing for easier changing of a rear axle if they brake on the go? Also how does one remove the rear wheel bearings without damaging them?

Is there any tricks i need to know to do the conversion? Will the 413 drums themselves work? i cant see why not as they are being cut down anyway.

Hopefully i can use the 413 drums on my truck as kiwizook needs my drums for his re vinning, his truck needs to be orginal to get it re vinned and back on the road leagilly. so this will help both of us.

Cheers for your wonderful knowledge in advance

I would imagine it will only work if both drum backplates have extra retainers or if both are the retainer.

If you tried to use a drum backplate with a built in retainer on a setup that used to use a separate one the bearing may stick out.

I'm not 100% on how the setups where the backplate works as the retainer work out in terms of spacing as I've only ever had setups with seperate retainers.

I will take some photos when I get a chance.

to me it looks like the sj410 the backplate and retainer are seperate parts where as the sj413 they are the same unfortunatley i dont think this is what kiwizook wanted to hear

only other thing i can think of doing is making a seperate spacer if i want to use the 410 axle and if i use the 413 cut the backplate and retainer to size.

So I think I may have figured out this for myself. I can use either set of drums as all they are is a disk holder.

I can use 410 axles if I make up a spacer out of a different material so kiwizook can have the backplates.

And the 413 axles can be used if I cut the backplate/retainer which is combined and thicker down to the small square. They fit as I just swaped the short side over to test.

What should I make the spacer out of? Normally you would chop the backplate. But that's needed. Anyone know the thickness I don't have a set of Verviers yet
