Chaps

Went to go and see my bee's today in the Suzuki GV 2000ltr '02 reg and it wouldn't start so I tried jumping it with the Mrs car no joy. It did sound like a flat battery.

Bought a new batt from halfords just fitted it and it still wont start. :S

Have you any advice you could impart? Really need the fella up and running ASAP.

Thanks

Is the starter not even turning the engine over?

With the new battery does it still sound like a flat battery? If you tow the car down the road is it still the same?

Only have a focus with the Mrs init and so its probably best we don't go there, towing that is. :smokin:

Could be a dodgy starter motor or solenoid. Does it click when you turn the key?

Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in this Parish of Nth Wilts? round J17 M4? Will travel if he/she comes highly recommended. Will have to bump it or tow it then

Not really just tries to turn over but cant. I think I did hear a low volume clicking at one point. Will go outside and try it again to see.

It just clicks the once and tries to turnover.

I mention towing so you can eliminate the Starter from the equation. You could push it to bump start it providing it has enough power in battery to let the ecu control the spark when first firing.

IT sounds like a starter fault to be honest, try hitting the starter with something heavy just in case the solenoid is stuck or rock it back and forth in say 4th gear then try start it, obviously when it's back in neutral!

I'm pretty sure if it was the immobiliser it would turn over as normal but just not fire.

Worst case scenario is seized engine but that doesn't happen overnight!
