Hi all. I am looking to buy some new competition tyres for the kja.
Running 235/75/15 at the moment for general use. Fine on the road
sort of :S Looking to use something a little slimmer for off-road but dont
want to go any taller. Will be mounting them on a set of 15 x 7j steel rims.
Ideas of sizes needed.

not entirely sure why you would want to go narrower but it would probably have to be 225x80r15

not sure if you can get many tyres in this size though

tyres are much more common in 215x80r15 but they are considerably smaller

Thanks for your reply. In answer to your question, fat tyres dont work as well
in muddy trials competitions. You just end up slithering around on the surface.
Aggressive skinny ones grip much better in the mud with a vehicle this light. ;)

I really don't think 235s are too wide for an SJs weight tbh anywhere between 9-10.5" is perfect in my opinion.

Some more aggressive tyres in that size would work be a good bet.

I agree that more narrow tyres can sometimes be better and help you to get down through the mud to more solid ground...
But if the mud is a bit deep you are more likely to sink up to your axles.
I prefer to float around on top than to dig the axles out!
I used to do a fair bit of mudding before I moved out here and never had any issues with my 235s or my 31s
The 235s were only Kumho KL71s which weren't the most aggressive pattern either...
