Front Transfer Seal Leak...... help

Hi

I think I may have traced my leak to the front transfer seal, but this from reading the symptoms of someone else's oil leak on an American forum.

Is it likely that the front transfer seal leaks? The cross member is saturated with oil and the base of what I believe the transfer box is literally dripping.

If so, is it an easy fix?? or am I best taking it to a garage and bracing myself to have my wallet emptied?

The input / output seals are a fairly easy job.

Jimny bits list a fairly comprehensive set of seals. http://www.jimnybits.co.uk/shop/sj-/-sa ... t_182.html

Ooopps. I did just notice this was in Vitara specific and not SJ.

Are there any other likely areas where the oil could be coming from in that area?

I have tried to upload a picture but its too big to upload.

I have taken a few pictures and am just reducing them to post.

For the first time Ive managed to have a really good look underneath and I think the oil is coming from the transmission oil sump plug. The concentration of oil is around it and the spray pattern of oil centres from it suggesting its spraying from this area when moving.

Does the washer on these have a tendency to fail sometimes?

Pictures are coming

Hers a few pictures... apologies for the quality, they were taken on my iPhone at full stretch. Hopefully you'll see the first picture is where the majority of oil is gathered and dripping. The crossmember is saturated with oil spray....

Thanks in advance
