Su carb running question

hey guys been driving the Sj around now as now passed mot and all that
i had water in the rad before i used proper coolant as wanted to check for leaks before adding it, ran fine for about a week and then it got hotter on the temp gauge one day and realised i had a leak.
tightened up a hose clip and stopped the leak and have no replaced the water with coolant.
now when i accelerate especially in second the throttle response feels much more sluggish till it gets up to speed and then its fine. What could changing from water to coolant have done?
cheers guys

Nothing. You have other issues I think. Are you using any oil? Is there water mixed in with it? Do you have a crack in the manifold? It could be anything really. I'd give the engine a thorough going over to see what's what.

Check your oil filler cap for monkey spunk.

No monkey spunk in the oil cap that was my first thought. if it was blown head gasket i would of thought id loose much more power?
it accelerates ok if you accelerate slowly so not sure, someone said it might be a block in the carb so the quick acceleration is not happening, but i did not think SUs had that.
guess i will compression test it.

Take the carb air inlet off and push the piston up with your finger to make sure it slides smoothly up and down
There should be some resistance (due to the dashpot oil and spring) when pushing it up, and it should come back down smoothly and of its own accord

awesome will have a look and see what its doing, what level should the oil be in the dash pot, there is a low ridge and then another ridge close to the top, which one should the oil be filled to?
cheers

Not entirely sure how much, but its not a lot I think maybe about a teaspoon worth
p.s. don't use your good teaspoons to measure

turns out it has a over flow bit anyway, i think i over filled it just now because when i put the plunger back in it squirted out the top haha.
compression tested and was getting 108 psi or 7.5 bar in each cylinder.
thanks

Doesnt matter really if it overflows, it will go in the engine and burn off
