sj rear axle input shaft oil seal

Post by sidsuzuki2346 » Sun Jul 12, 2015 11:29 pm

Hi everyone the rear axle input shaft oil seal is leaking on the sj, not badly but if it can be done with a basic mechanical knowhow it will sort it. Do you have the re-do the preload on the bearings or no, i spoke to the mechanic i work for and he said something about it.

You mean the pinion oil seal where the propshaft connects to the diff?

If so then yes the diff will need preloads etc doing using a new crush sleeve to get it setup correctly again.

Might well be the case that it's leaking because the pinion bearing is worn anyway.

Might just change the whole back axle then cause I've got another sj for bits. Cheers
