So I found this on another forum I visit, you can apply to the DVLA to find out what history they have about your old car.
- You download a v888 from the DVLA website,
- https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... -a-vehicle
- you print it out, fill it in and send it off with £5 cheque
- The DVLA send you copies of the documents they have on file,
I sent off for info on my SJ around a month ago, & today my pack arrived, it has a list of previous owners, copies of old v5's/logbooks (with signatures blanked) and a copy of the original registration certificate (the one they used when they first registered it) most v5's have milage on so its worth doing if you want to confirm the milage is correct, also that first registration document should have the garages name when the car was sold. In my case 'Norfolk Motor Company' Sprowston Road, Norwich, not vital but certainly interesting! The only moan is that some documents look to be copies of copies so are almost illegible, but what can you do? To me £5 well spent!
