SJ 5-speed - sloppy gear selection
SJ 5-speed - sloppy gear selection
Been able to compare 2 different 5 speeds - and one is really sloppy. Gearbox itself is good though. Please can someone tell me what I need to do - lever out, what bit wears and can it be replaced etc?? Thanks as always

Re: SJ 5-speed - sloppy gear selection
Will probably be a broken locating bolt
Just below where the lever enters the gearbox on the back there is a small bolt, remove that and it should have a machined down section on the end (most of them do anyway) I would recommend trying to fish it out without removing the lever to avoid it dropping into the gearbox (rare but can happen)
They are cheap from suzuki and you can do this without removing the gearbox, just remove the lever boot inside the vehicle.

Thanks Scott - I shall get the boot off and have a close look. I suppose dropping it into the box is a fairly bad thing
