Few questions on props and other bits

Basically my SJ has started vibrating heavily under drive. Goes when you back off so I'm assuming is a UJ. Quick look under and it would appear my rear diff has moved and is aiming upwards slightly. Could be normal but looks off to me
It also looks like the extension bit may be over extended as the rubber boots in front and rear won't reach over the greased internal part.
Next one, my starter keeps sticking as if the battery hasn't enough juice but will then go. On closer inspection the starter only us one bolt in as the adaptor plate for the engine doesn't quite line up! Anyone else had this? Looks like I'm going to need to remove the engine or drill the hole out a bit so I can get a bolt in.
sorry for the long post but I'm trying to get this as mechanically sound as possible!

Its hard to tell from the pic but if your diff is pointing
Up then you either havent got any spring preches or they
Have been moved possibly after being returned from spring
Over axle.

From the pic it looks like, as said, no perches

The prop boot isn't too much to worry about. Common thing if it's on lift springs or has had the axles moved forwards and backwards for extra tyre clearance.
As Andy say more photos of the back axle to get a better look and a pic where it mounts to the spring.

That's the axle mount, also not sure why it's wet and it did smell of transmission fluid
Oh joy

On a plus note it has Astra rear shocks and a shock bar so that saves me a job

No spring perch. And is there only 1 u bolt on there?
Not sure how you get a oil leak there either without the axle case being worn through.

I'm not convinced it isn't cracked but hey ho, I take it Spring perches are a fab item not something I can buy

Nah you can buy them. Not sure where in the UK though.
Low Range Off Road do them.
Easy enough to make but getting all the geometry right is a bit harder when you weld them back together.

Scary stuff that. Seems the p.o was a bit of a hack.
Some 50mm (i think) box section should do the job.
Basically. Angle either end. Semi circle out the middle.
Or flat plate with little truss triangles. Just google it and theres
Loads of different ways to go.
Pinion angle is important and i think the degrees are
On here somewhere. If it were me id bolt everthing up on the car set the angle and clamp it in place by tightening the ubolts.
Then tack the new perches, remove and weld up. On sjs the springs
Sag unevenly so if you do this method id measure the distance from the chassis leg and the top of the leaf spring
Nearest the perch to make sure its level. If that makes sense?
