General questions about my zook because I'm still uncultured

Post by SlimGrim » Sun Apr 10, 2016 2:45 pm

Just a post where I'm gonna post some pictures and questions regarding things that I'm unsure about on my car as this is my first car let alone my first samurai even though I've had her a year now I really don't know as much as I should haha
Secondly she's been staring to drive slightly worse and a few new noises are cropping up, one of wich I know is the UJ issue and I'm getting that sorted next week.
First question should my bottom rear leaf springs "leaf" look like this?? Looks like it's upsidown in comparison to the other leafs and all the ones on all our landy's

All the bottom leafs are like that. Aftermarket springs
Tend to have a flat one.

How do you mean driving worse?

It's just different designs, each company has a different idea of how a spring pack should be made up to get the best characteristics out of it, some company's use the flat bottom Spring, some don't. Some use a pack of springs, some use a single leaf it all depends what you want your leaf spring to do

Like tramp said, its just a design thing.

Also from that photo, yours is a jap sami.
The fuel tank guard is made from 3 peices of pressed
Steel where as a spanish one is one whole sheet.

The hand brake cables for the jap sami like yours that
Go across the axle, its a two part cable but when i was
Trying to find the main cable part it was only avalible from
The USA for around 30 pound. The sencondry part is easily avallible here but isnt the part that wears as much. I managed
To bodge mine through many an MOT so its nothing to be concerned about.

I'm pretty sure the bottom leaf should be flat, not bent downwards, it has probably been reversed into something while offroad.
