Hi all.
I currently own a SJ 410 soft which i am going to restore in the summer. However, i don't have a hard top to put on it in the winter so was wondering if anyone has done a removable bulkhead style conversion using a tin top door. It needs to be removable for in the summer or when carrying long loads.
How would i seal it and make it removable?
Is there anyone who has already done this?
I have seen pictures where there is a fibre glass bulkhead but can't seem to find any info on it.
Any suggestions appreciated.
Pete

Re: Cab Conversion SJ 410
I quite like my set up, I have a lower bulkhead that stays in permanently and then a cut down tin top door to close the rest in during the winter, however i also just keep the soft top on to keep anything in the back dry, also means you don't have to worry about sealing it well.
That's the lower bulkhead (just ignore half the Sj missing )
And that's with the upper section fitted, I haven't actually finished it yet, I'm going to fill where the handle was etc. Its only 5 bolts to fit and remove, however my Targa bar isn't a standard soft top one, a rear door doesn't quite fit as well in an original traga bar, however it wouldn't be hard close the gaps.

Hi Scottie,
That's exactly what i want to do to mine!
What Targa bar do you have fitted? Mine is a standard 1984 soft top one.
How big would the gaps be if i fit a tin top door in?
I'm thinking of using Toggle latches instead to lock it in place, this also means it can be pulled up to a rubber seal.
Thanks

Mine has a completely custom targa bar as it was once a tintop.
Not that big, if you managed to find an old tintop that you could cut the back off it will be quite easy to do.
this is on ebay at the moment and is quite a tidy conversion, using a standard targa and the back end of a tintop, it's a lwb though, you would need to trim around the arches like on mine.
