Guys,

I've got a small 5litre metal jerry can that i was planning to mount in the spare space under the bonnet.

There any risk to this if i mount it securely?

Thanks

I thought hard about this idea too, but, that extra room on the right of the manifold, has to be the hottest place on the whole truck.

My 5l Jerry can's in the spares rucksack behind the seat.

If it was me i would not do it,in theory it seems like a good place to store the jerry can and although they are made of reasonable strong material, but if you ever was to have a full frontal shunt at any time or you flip the motor while out playing in the mud, both these we of course hope will never happen but one can never tell. The can can get damaged and being so near to the hot exhaust and electronic ignition then that could make a deadly combination and i dont use the 'deadly' word lightly here.

Of course others may see it differently but i would rather be safe that sorry, its your call of course but its not for me.

I too think it's not a great idea to keep a jerry can there, unless it's full of water.

Decision made. I'll store it in the back and keep an ammo can there instead (albeit not full of ammo)

I think it's a great idea, put it next to exhaust, the exhaust will warm up/preheat the petrol and make it expand so you get more for your money, pour it in your petrol tank while it's still hot and see your MPG go up!

Fellas, be nice, it was a reasonable newbie question.
