My wife loves it, just bought, but struggles a little with the steering. Found a place that will do a power steering supply and install for about £450. Have no idea if this is reasonable or not. He asked if It has a double pulley!
It's a great fun car and we would like the power steering.
Any advice here please
Cheers
PS. My first post?

Welcome to SCUK.
£450 seems a bit steep, unless it is all parts (including new hydraulic pipes) and labour. Can buy the parts in the UK for £100 or less depending on if you use jimny or vitara bits. Probably a half day job to fit it. All depends on how good at the oily stuff you are???
I paid £100 (including postage) for all jimny bits (pump, box, reservoir and pipes), another £10 for custom flexi hydraulic pipes.
There are also a few electric PAS conversions about.
Need to know what you are getting for the £450. The common conversions all need a bit of fab work to fit a double pulley, mount the pump onto the 1.3 block. Wedge making if fitting a vitara PAS box.

Thanks for this Jordi. If you only paid a tad over £100 for parts and postage it looks like my quote is high, as you said.
Can you or anyone point me in the direction of where I could look at the (remote!) possibility of shipping a full kit out here? Ours is a 1298cc.
Having said that I'll probably get ripped off on the labour anyway.......it's something I could not take on myself.
Anyone coming to Gozo? LoL
But I think the wife needs this addition.
Cheers

Hey Nicolas, if you are ever on the big island I could take a look at it for you. I think I even have a spare double pulley.
Not sure if it's for the 1.3 or the 1.6 though... Im in Birkirkara
Its mostly a bolt in job so €450 is wayyyy to much

Thank you Twiss. Nice to hear from Birkirkara.
The 450 I mention was UK £'s....I just converted the euro quote I was given in Malta, as this is a UK forum. And I was generous as it was over euro 600.
We would like to get this done, just want to pay a fair price for a good job.
Cheers.

lol you could pay for 2/3 of a gypsy for €600!!!
I'm guessing from being a 96 it has coil springs? Probably best if you brought over here I could check it out. Make sure all the holes are in the same place.
I would strongly advise getting at least the jimny power steering box sent from the UK. They often go for €250-300 here just for the damn box.
Could at least tell you what is involved then. If you could get a jimny p/s set up here I could either install it or help you to install it... would just have to wait until I actually finish my own Samurai first

Thank you Twiss.......I appreciate this and would be very happy to take your offer to advise. Especially as I'm a newbie to all this!!!
I'll get back to you soon, but in the meantime all the best with your Suzuki.
Cheers.
