Anybody heard of this or had it done before?

A friends son has bought a machine that cleans/de-carbons your engine and I was interested if its something worth doing? I had never heard of it before a week ago.

Not worth doing it, could make it worse!

I'm sure someone will come along and explain better, a bit like a blood clot, moving around your body....

Redex and a good old italian tuneup every now and then. Otherwise, strip the engine down to the bare block, clean everything and reassemble the engine with new gaskets, stem seals etc.

A good old bottle of Redex in the tank and occasionally just screw the conkers off the engine cleans it out, have always used Redex in the fuel and STP oil additive in a engine, never had any major problems thus far.

Just stick a tin of engine flush in when changing the oil.

Terraclean?

Its good on newer more powerful engines but I have herd some horror stories.

Older engines up to say 2000 is a waste.of time, good old squirt of redex and hi octane fuel combined with some Italian driving is all you need.

I've been told that you can spray small amounts of water (from a mister/spray bottle) into the engine while keeping the revs up and this will de-coke the engine surfaces
Not sure if it's an old wives tale...

What about if I take the air intake off and pour sand in, that will polish the innards! Port and Polish for the price of a bag of sand!
