Suzuki Club UK

My cousin has been looking at Suzuki sj's since I have had mine but he's getting totally absurd insurance quotes of £3000-£6000. He's recently turned 17 and will soon be starting driving lessons.

So has anyone on here insured an sj at 17?

I tried and failed - hence it's taken me 8 years to get a Suzuki.

I found that Hard tops were cheaper to insure than Soft tops.

Whatever you do, don't go for Blackbox insurance on an SJ, it would be reporting bad driving everytime you move it.

My first insurance on a 96 Fiesta 1.1 was £2500, my insurance is £500 on the Jimny after 8years no claims.

It's a step down, but gives a few years to acrue no claims but have they looked at Jimny's?

I thought they might have been cheap on insurance being old and a 1.3. I'm 27 and can get insurance for less than £300 for the year.

I guess he will have to wait a few years then! And there was me thinking I had converted him from land rover

Blimey £3-6k for insurance for a SJ,lucky that i am at the cheapest end of the spectrum with full no claims bonus and my V6 Vitara costs under £200 and i thought that i had got done,but i do also have break down cover as well,so no so bad i guess.

Turned 18 January 27th, passed my test at 17 on the January 3rd, my quote was 1,900 but dad had a long go at them and somehow got it to 1,100

Is that as a named driver on someone's insurance?

No that's insured under my name with my dad on my policy as another named driver

That's pretty cheap, I couldn't get insured for under £2500 when I first passed! Times must have changed!

Saying that, to put my Fiance on my insurance last week cost me another £150 :O ontop of the £370 insurance!

I got insured on my Suzuki sj 410 when I was 18 was only £1400 for the year standard no mods
Just had a renewal and it cam back at £483 but I didn't do it as currently doing engine upgrade hope it doesn't go up much lol
