skinny prop bolt pattern.

Post by palo123 » Sun Sep 11, 2016 7:41 pm

Hi all.

I'm about to purchase a set of prop shafts for my sj410 but they are off a 84 410 which makes them skinny props. My question is do skinny props have the same bolt pattern as the later fat 410 props as my axles and diffs are from a later 410?
Or will I need to buy the diffs with the correct bolt pattern?

Thanks

As far as I'm aware there is only one PCD/size for 410s.

Thanks Dan . I did think the 410s all had the same bolt pattern.

from the axle info sticky thread

LJ80s and skinny prop SJ410s (upto 84) are 50mmx50mm with 8mm bolts
Later fat prop (85 onwards) SJ410s are 56x56mm with 8mm bolts

Okay so I'll have to get the diffs as well to run them. Also if I get the transfers box of the same sj with skinny props will the bolt pattern be 50x50?

I'm sure I saw somewhere that you can just re drill the flange holes to suit?

You can, yes
One thing you should bear in mind is that the REALLY early ones with a metal dash have a different center spigot and those props will not fit at all.
Usually only 83 models but my friend had an 84 registered SJ410 that had the skinny props with the different spigot

That would explain why there's a Mint SJ410 with only one prop at my uncles, cause I couldn't find one to fit!

Yeah its a bit of a pain in the ass. Someone I know in Malta has one, and when I first looked at it I said oh dear, good luck getting props for that
both were not good due to poor SPOA set up and no prop spacers, there was maybe 10mm of spline joined at the middle
