I am trying to install a CD player connected via USB port.

Don't know if you'll manage that. I presume (although I don't know) that the system is set up to recognise the file structures for USB thumb drive and not external cdrom. It would be like trying to run your cdrom on a mobile phone. They're not usually setup to do that...
