Replacing drivers door

Post by ferrispedro » Sun Apr 25, 2021 3:03 pm

Hi all newbie here with a 007 2.0l petrol GV. I have lots of scratches on the drivers door and could buy a door from a scrapyard for £75. What difficulties would I face swopping it? (Much cheaper than spraying). Many thanks, Peter.

Don't know much about the newer Vits but it should be easy enough. Disconnect wiring (mirror? stereo etc), undo bolts and remove door. You'll need to put the original lock on the new door so you can still use the same key. I always find it easiest to remove a door with the window wound down, you can reach through and grab the handle to support it. Hope that helps a bit.
If it ticks over...leave it

Thanks for your input, so in theory the wiring looms can be disconnected at plugs then pulled back?
