Hi guys, I got an SJ410 that's pretty rusted, and I want to replace all the bushes while I have it apart. Is there a full bush kit available?

Super pro do bushes. They are probably some of the nicest ones. All LJ and SJ leaf spring bushes are the same.

Plenty of kits also available on eBay. The orange ones like the Floflex ones are fine in my experience but don’t get the red ones with the round profile flange.

Nothing wrong with just new standard bushes either, in fact they often help the suspension flex better.

While I was on the subject, I was thinking of doing a body lift too with something like this:

Now I understand this lifts the body where it is mounted to the chassis, but there are also chassis pads between the body and the chassis, which would be impossible to mount with a body lift... Would this be a problem? Or would you guys know a fix?

What’s the reason that you want to do a body lift?

If it’s for larger tyres you are better off with suspension lift and/or a little bit of body work fettling.

Only reason I would do a body lift is for clearance issues elsewhere….for a taller engine etc but it would be as little as possible and max of 25mm.

That kit replaces the original rubber body mounts completely and the lift blocks locate in the factory body mount dimples. It looks like a pretty good kit. I need to do a bit of a body lift on one of mine for engine clearance so might get one and machine the blocks down 25mm (edit, just spotted they do a 25mm version )

Not a specific reason actually, thought maybe (while I have it fully apart anyway) it would be fun to just do a small lift, since it looks very easy to do But if there's no actual benefit I'll just keep it stock (with new rubbers etc obviously). My father in law would like to go on offroad and 4x4 trips, so we picked this thing up from the northern part of italy, Nice 27 hour round trip If a stock SJ410 is good enough for occasional 4x4 and offroading, I won't do the lifting thing.

I just personally don’t like to fit things that are unnecessary. Everything fitted should have a reason to be fitted.

If lift is needed for tyre clearance it’s best to start with a little bit of suspension lift and only as much as is needed, nothing worse than a tall and less stable SJ on small tyres.

Fit some slightly oversize mud terrain tyres and it might surprise you. 215/75r15 fits a standard SJ, 235/75r15 will go on with some minor alterations to the front bumper mounts and 30-31” can be made to fit with 2” lift springs and lowered bumpstops.

I probably wouldn’t go bigger than 235/75r15 with a 410 though as they don’t really have much power

As I said, new to the sj410 and to 4x4/offroading in general, so will gladly take in these tips!
I'll have a look for some 235/75 tires then
