Ignition and alternator woes

Hello everyone. Andy from across the pond here. Sorry I haven't posted as of late. Anyways I had to completely rebuild both axles due to no maintenance of bearings. Also completely overhauled brakes as well. All new components. Also finally new voltage regulator arrived so I installed it. Now the charge light stays on when key is off but goes out when running. Also the headlights quit but turn signals ok. Not sure about brake lights. And last engine continues to run when key switch off. It's not dieseling and switch test ok. I'm leaning towards bad alternator diode. Or bad diode elsewhere in system. Also I should mention I figured out it has 413 non vacuum advanced distributor and coil installed previously. Truck is 1982 Canadian spec sj410k ( to the best of my research anyway). Any help or information would be greatly appreciated. Best regards
