Hi mate, I think I'm right in saying it's the Vitara system that people use and if you want a kit look on RhinoRays website as I have seen one on there! Or failing that if anyone out there has done the conversion without a pre bought kit could they let us know what they used and how they did it? I am also looking to do this conversion maybe in the summer this year as soon as I get my 33's!

Hope that helped a little!

Ben

Hello.

There are a couple of ways to get PAS on your truck.

Firstly the Cheapest way is to get the Vitara PAS setup: This will consist off...

-Steering box (larger than standard)
-Res
-Pump
-Top and bottom pulleys of engine block (a change of alternator pulley may be required)
-All pipe work
- A home brew wedge to get the PAS box to fit.

You need a wedge to fit the box to the sj chassis leg.

Or you can take all of the above and instead of fitting a Vitara steering box you can fit one from a Jimny. These simply bolt straight on job done..

If you try and bolt your powersteering box onto the standard mount it wont fit (well it will but it wont work) think it will foul on the chassis is memory serves me right due to its length.

A few pics of my wedge...

Watch the pump on the chassis rail

ive got the bottom pulley and the steering pump pully but my bottom pulley doesnt look like it will fit onto my crankshaft? its got a flat plate with 5 holes instead of a slot for the chuck key to fit into.

will get some pics up of it.

PLease excuse me for being thick but just to confirm, all i will need to fit Jimny PAS to my Sammy is-

-Steering box
-Res
-Pump
-Top and bottom pulleys of engine block (a change of alternator pulley may be required)
-All pipe work

As i know of a Jimny being broken i was hoping to scavange the parts!! If i fit the PAS from the Jimny as opposed to the Vitara no additional mods are required? it all bolts straight on.....simples???

Or am i deluding myself and will be still faced with some fabrication of brackets?

Stats yes thats right you just bolt the jimny pas box on, no fabrication required.

Regarding the bottom pulley, you may need to re drill the holes, or weld the top pulley of vitara, onto the bottom pulley of the 1.3 engine.

Simples.

I have seen on another forum that you need the Jimny steering columb is this correct?

With regard to the bottom pulley, if I aquire the jimny bottom pulley, all i would have to do is re-drill the holes?

Sorry for all the questions..
