transfer box,,,

Post by carnut » Sat Feb 13, 2010 9:28 am

Got my rocklobster gear back yesterday from nigel head (differs name),, bad news is, thats the last one hes going to do.
I was hoping to get the box built today but ive got other stuff to do.. I would like to run a rear locker, but i cant,,. still should be a lot more driveable, (no flat out run-ups?)..
Has any-one got a BFM needle for a SU carb,,,, yes my standard carb has give up, its got an air leak. on our last event, every time i took my foot off the throtle it would die,, not good when your half way up a route to collect a punch??.

Andy,

The rocklobster should make the world of difference. depending on tire size, it can be very slow. I tend to stay in 2nd / 3rd. Use first for sharp drops ect.

Shame mine wasnt up and running when you came over, could have had a go in it to get the feel 8-)

2H is affected. Marginly... As most of us run bigger rubber anyway... the Hight range difference is not that noticeable.

no,, you need a 410 and a 413 transfer box,, rockwalt will do you a gear, about£100.
then you need some gaskets £15, or you pay someone to build it for you. But there dead easy to build if you have a puller..

i run 215 80 r15 tyres

my low range is 6.1

does it affect 2h. well it will only do 45 - 50 mph.

so in mine it does.
(but im running yank transfer gears a diesel and a getrac gearbox so its really low ratio'd)

vit r &p next 5.1 if im not wrong.
so i may up the trye size to a massive 30 9.5 r15. just to raise it back to what im used to.

tony :P

rock lobsters hi ratio is the same as a 410 tbox something like 12% lower than a 413 t box.

And yeah you do need speed in an sj  mine's hit 75mph on my gps so far
