Another Oil related Question

On my first drive with the second 1.6 engine (first one didnt pump oil and died) there is oil coming out, although i didnt run it dry. Its coming from the top so to be on the safe side ive ordered a new rocker gasket and a new sump gasket £12 the pair.
But whats that thing if you look at the engine from the drivers wing, there is the inlet manifold, and on the bulkhead side a thing where the petrol pipe goes in, i mind when taking the old engine apart when this come out so did some oil, is it significant for anything.
There is quite a mess around the engine with this oil.

The fuel pump you mean
these are ran by a small push rod off the Cam, so there is an oil feed to it, hence why oil came out when you took the last one off.
Put your finger on the bottom of the fuel pump and you should feel a small hole, if one of the diaphrams has gone within the pump then oil will leak from that hole. if it's not from the hole but from that area it could be the fuel pump gasket.
If it is the Diaphram new fuel pumps are pretty darn expensive!
my genuine one was over £100!
Another common one is the rubber O-rings on the distributer housing, when these go you will have oil running down the back of the head and engine.

tis as well i kept the fuel pump off the old one
to car part prices.
im hoping its that or the rocker gasket, but could i expect as much to come out the rocker?
the distributor seems to be clean enough, although a seal for it cant be expensive.
Ive it booked in with my local mechanic on wedensday, im lucky enough to have got it going ill let him give it all a check over to make sure i can use it.

nah they should be cheap
stealers part numbers
8V distributor shaft: 33278-58060
16v distributor shaft: 33278-60B40
8v Dist. case: 09280-56004
16v Dist case 11162-71C00 ( -71C10 , 96-98)
the Case O-ring is apparently 55.5x1.9mm if you can find one elsewhere
You could try a BS139V75 (viton) or a BS139N70 (Nitrile) (55.25x2.62mm)
or a 55X2N70 (Nitrile) (55x2mm)

the dizzy is definatley not the problem its all nice and clean round it, and i have a spare one of them.
Ive ordered in a rocker and sump gasket from my local motor factors, they seem to be good at getting stuff, so ill add a fuel pump gasket to the list if these 2 dont solve it.

I got a pattern fuel pump for my 1300cc engine for £25, so far so good

changing the fuel pump over, isnt a big job, only 2 bolts i can see.
how many gaskets are needed for it, do you replace the black bit, is there 2 gaskets either side of it?

There's only 1 gasket
Tramp I tried the only 2 fuel pumps they listed from the factors I use through my dads garage and neither fitted for different reasons on my 1600 so I gave up trying and got a genuine one.

righto
i have to collect the rocker gasket this morning ill ask about the fuel pump gasket.
But i see oil round the inlet manifold, i had taken the rocker cover off to inspect the condition of the gasket and im thinking that broke the seal and i need a new one.

Yeah you probably will yes... They seem to disintegrate when you take them apart!!!
