Water temperature gauge

Post by Smalljeep » Fri May 27, 2011 1:50 am

Is there a difference in the temperature sender between the 1.3 and 1.6 engines. My mechanic said that he tested the resistance and the 1.6 one is higher than what the temperature actually is and thats why it shoots straight up into the red once the engine is turned on.

I think they are different, its always best to use whatever sender matches the clocks.

O.E. part number for a 413 sender is 34850-82000 i think.

some random info for you :lol:

Samurai (sj413) Temperatures/ohms resistance for gauge

@50*C(122*F)/133.9-178.9 ohms

@80*C(176*F)/47.5-56.8 ohms

@100*C(212*F)/26.2-29.3 ohms

I have a parts catalogue :thumbup: Edit: they can now be found in the 'General suzuki section'

interesting :er:

according to seekpart they both use the same sender :er: http://seekpart24.com/suzuki/vitara-et- ... ure-100334" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

but your not the only one who has had this problem as far as I'm aware.

I presume you dont have the sender off your old engine to try?

Out of interest.

What is the colour of the plastic bit on all of your water temp senders? can everyone who has a 1.3 or 1.6 engine in there zukes post this up and let us know if there temp reads correctly on the gauge :thumbup:

I would answer this myslef but as mine is a 410 I have to make an adapter to run the temp sender in one of the coolant tubes and also run an aftermarket temp gauge from the inlet manifold.

I'm using the original 1.6 temp sender and it seems to work fine. The plastic bit on the sender is black on my 1.3 and my 1.6 engine.

i got myself a set of 3 52mm gagues, ammeter, oil pressure and oil temperature (or water) it should give a more reliable reading than the gague on the dash.
