Make sure the distributor is not 180degrees out of sync

I deffo sound like a timing issue. Have you moved the distributer ?

Sounds like a timing issue to me or possibly a weak spark. If you've not touched the distributor at all though, the timing should not have put it's self out unless the distributor bolt has come loose.

If you have a spark but it won't start, do you have fuel getting through. Are the plugs wet when you've turned it over with them in and then whip one out?

Have you taken the fuel line that runs from the pump to the carb off and had someone else turn it over to check the pump is supplying the carb?

Is the choke working properly? It's cold now and needs to work properly, make sure the cable's not snapped or something simple like that. Do you have an automatic choke? They are problematic.

Lots to check. Let us know what you have checked and we'll all try to sort it out by process of elimination.

 sounds to me like its a simple case of leads mixed up ! had a similiar trouble a few years ago with a mates mini we tried all sorts cos we were sure the leads were on in right order turned out another mini club member had swapped them during a late night prank (wot a tW<T) 3 weeks it took us till he told us what hed done! That would be my first guess.
