Ring Gear Bolts 10 - 10mm bolts
Ring Gear Diameter 6.90 Inches
Pinion Shaft Diameter/Splines 1.379"/26
Pinion Bearing Preload 7.8-14.7 in-lbs
Backlash .004-.006 in.
Ring Gear Torque 58-65 lbs-ft
Carrier Bearing Cap Torque 51-72 lbs-ft
Pinion Nut Torque Zero endplay (crush sleeve)

i could do with a rear diff so how much am i looking for a new or to rebuild the old one ?

My front one is a bit "clunky" - Scottie let me know if that is a bit too technical for you ;-)

OK time to be serious.... having been frightened by all the above info (thanks Scottie) do you absolutely need all those special tools (which I don't have) or is there a redneck way of doing this? I really need to sort the backlash in my front diff :-(

All you really need is a dial indicator and the spring scale, if you are rebuilding your existing diff then you shouldn't need to worry about setting the pinion depth etc as long as you rebuild it the same as it comes apart.

Thanks Scottie, that sounds Double Dutch right now but I am sure it will make sense once I have done my homework.
I will probably tackle that when I change my suspension

Hi Geoff, I have just done my mini spool, its not as daunting as you think when you get in there mate
