Driving light wiring

A couple of months ago I fitted some new driving lights to my bull bar but couldn't get them to work. A mate has told me that they don't work because I followed the instructions as SJ's have negative (-) earth. Is this right and if so how do I make them work.
ATM I have a wire going from the sidelights to a switch (earthed to bulkhead) a wire going from switch to relay (earthed to chassis) the relay has a wire going to battery positive (+) and another one going to the new lights.

follow this wiring diagram If you want the spots to come on with full beam

I want them on a switch, so not always on with the full beam lights

Still couldn't get them to work so they are going on a independent circuit.

But as I'm rubbish with electrics I'm having a mechanic mate of mine do them.

Everyone's rubbish at electronics until they realise how easy most of it is. Even if you don't have a soldering gun, you can get away with chock block most of the time.

Or like this, on with high-beam or off altogether.........

That's how they are at the moment, but don't work. I've been told that this is because the SJ lights have a - earth and my lights have a + earth.

Electrics are easy
Especially on SJs!
Do you have a multimeter? If so, hold your main beam on "flash" (use an elastic band or something) and measure the voltage between the pins in the headlight plug.
If it's a positive numbers, then the red probe is going towards the +ve and the black the -ve
If its a negative number, then the black probe is connected to the +ve and the red the -ve
Connect relay pin 85 to the -ve, and pin 86 to battery positive, as shown in Dudleydo's diagram
