Re: stupid question time handbrake cable
Not much help as I've not done the job, but I've found a few diagrams of different types and assume they need the mechanism as diagram 2.
I have the transfer drum using diagram 3 so have no pictures to help. Which version of cable do you have now......

Re: stupid question time handbrake cable
ay yes. orignally the handbrake set up was like the last one. with weird actuating arm. then was converted to single cable, where one goes into the driverside drum and splits on the rear axle and runs along into the other side.
so i have no cable atm. i have the handbrake lever for a single cable. and ROVER calipers.
IF i was to go with the DUEL cable (2 cables both from handbrake lever to either corner) would those cable 'ends' work with ROVER calipers?
the quest ion being, would it be easir to get the rover handbrake cable and make it fit the SJ? then also the handbrake lever?
i have SJ handbrake lever and rover calipers and NOTHING in the middle... what should/easiest/could/ i do?

Re: stupid question time handbrake cable
I think you also need the conversion kit russ for the rover calipers handbrake http://muddyzook.co.uk/store/index.php? ... roductId=7" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
And here's what it says on muddyzook
You will need the following additional components to fit the kit :
2 x Rover handbrake inner cable clevis pins
2 x Rover handbrake outer cable retaining clips
Other items may be needed, but using the list above as a guideline you should not have any major problems fitting your rear disc conversion.
This kit can NOT be fitted to an SJ that has the single handbrake cable; it’s designed for the dual handbrake cable version where the cables are come from the centre of the car down to each wheel independently, if you are unsure of your setup please email us and ask!

Re: stupid question time handbrake cable
Again, probably not much help to you BUT....worth thinking about before you do yours.
I'm about to do the same with Ford Scorpio Calipers, I'm going to use the Scorpio handbrake cable (which is a one piece job) so that the ends will fit on the calipers.
My plan is to cut the cable in two, fit another handbrake so there are two, side by side and have fiddle brakes, one handbrake for each side, very handy if you have one rear wheel spinning, you can just lock it and transfer the power to the other wheel.
Poor mans LSD
Re: your question, I wouldn't imagine it would be too difficult to make anything fit really but I don't know

Re: stupid question time handbrake cable
But you still need to get a different handbrake lever or make some brackets up to use what you have

Re: stupid question time handbrake cable
looking at the diagrams your lever (in cab) may well do the job (be the same) but underneath is different for a twin cable setup . It looks like it has a box which the two cables are inserted into, then a link bar from the two cables to the lever. I assume you really just want a handbrake lever assembly from another SJ that has the twin cable arrangement.
