Hi my mums jimny passenger window doesnt operate from either switch

Lights dont dim or anything when button pressed which says to me no current is been drawn

Removed door panel tested voltage at 2 pin connector to motor - 0.3v upon switch activation

Checked voltages at passenger door switch with switch connected

5 pin switch -
big blue wire in middle - 11.8v constant voltage irespective of switch activity
With switch in off state all other pins- 0v
With switch on on any other pin - 11.8v

This to me says that there is no earth path, im not sure which pin is the earth as i have no diagram.

Resistance in wiring between switch and motor is 0.1ohm so ok

due to the voltage drop test, the fact that im getting 11.8v on all the pins when switch is active says that the earth is going through the meter rather than to ground

Anyone got a diagram or know which wire i should be tracing ?

Anyone fancy a laugh?

I tested the wiring again now i know how it works and everything is working fine

So i powered up the motor using jump leads and sections of wire as i dont have a power probe, motor works

Conneted the switch again to see if it was just a sticking motor, still not working :(

PRESSED THE WINDOW LOCK BUTTON NEXT TO THE DRIVERS SWITCH PACK, SURPRISE SURPRISE...IT WORKS :argh:

thanks mum :screwy:

Only joking

Reminds of a bloke down the shops who was pulling his motorbike to bits, didn't think much of it until I went back hours later and he was still at it but working from the back of a car now. Being a nosey git I went to see what he was at and he said it wouldn't start. I pointed out the handlebar kill switch was in the off position. A few choice words :argh: and "bloody kids must have been messing with it, I never use that switch!"
A few bits back on and it started straight away  . I felt so guilty even if I was being helpful.

Still, glad you got it sussed, that switch wiring is blooming complicated :er: .

Yeah I figured that lol. Took me a while to get my head round it. That's why I thought there was a wiring fault at first.
