This why I dont have a garage. You will struggle to do this kind of damage with a tarpaulin.

Re: I'm gutted
I'm in the fortunate position that, when my house was built when I was a wee babe, my Dad specified the size he wanted the garage to be, which was basically big enough for two Rover P5Bs side by side with a meter gap on all sides plus a workbench at the rear and the up and over door is high enough to get an engine crane underneath with enough room to lift the V8s out of said Rovers, though that was many years ago, the Rovers are long gone and marriages broke down.
I swear I could fit 6 SJs in there if it wasn't full of junk anymore.

There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Iv done the same thing with my Clio. I went to shut the same kind of door but I hadn't parked my car far enough into the garage and the front was poking out a fraction
The lock mechanism put a scratch like that on the bonnet. It's still there as well this was early 2011.

I accidentally got a blob of filler on my bonnet, ooops!
A scratch like that I would just hammerite it
