Ok so on my travels the other week i came across an early 410 (think it was either a Y or an A plate) tintop, completly original parked in someone garden and looks to have been there some time, it was a hardtop though so might not be that bad.

My question is, how do you go about contacting these people? i have only ever does this once before, and i wrote a letter and gave my phone number, as it happens, i got the car for nought, (mk2 escort estate)

what do you reckon, do i try and save it?

If they're not in pop a note through the letterbox

Yea I agree, if you don't ask you don't get.. I had some guy knock on my door couple months ago apologising for disturbing me but was I interested in selling my truck as he had sold his to buy mrs a new jimmy and regretted it :-)

Yeah definitely just go round and ask... just get chatting to them about it and make sure they know that you know your stuff!
People can be a lot more co-operative if they know their disused old truck is going to a better home!

My mate has scored many SJs by asking and leaving notes and knocking on doors!

On a related note...

A while ago I got some wheel spacers and an exhaust dirt cheap from ebay.
I got them because the bloke couldn't be bothered with shipping stuff and nobody would bid and collect!

I ended up getting a whole exhaust and wheel spacers for £20... and he gave me a spare front hard roof section!
Sent him a message on ebay asking him how he was doing and if he had anything else available.

I got a reply saying he has a set of brand new colways on offset rims for sale, and some more bits in his garage for me to look at :)

I get many notes through the door, I have an old Sierra, Samurai's, speedboat etc on the drive which create a bit of interest.

What I would say is... REMEMBER TO LEAVE A CONTACT NUMBER :hahaha:

I've had at least four notes through the door saying....

"I'm interested in your ***** M8, is it for sale?"

and no number or contact details on it!! :hahaha:
