Post by dunnin21 » Tue Feb 07, 2012 9:31 pm

hi people, im looking into doing this conversion, i have seen some rover 800 calipers on the bay. Item number: 290667085261 it says on the listing that all i need are some standard sj front discs is this true, or do i need the mounting brackets i have seen on other post, this is my first SJ so any help would be much appreciated thanks Andy

Hi Andy,

If you sj is a 413 it should have the t box handbrake fitted, in which case you can use front sj calipers and discs with a special mounting plate. I used muddyzook kit, it was good but in hind sight i should have painted the kit.

If you haven't got the T box handbrake you will need the 600/honda accord callipers, and the handbrake kit from muddyzook. For this kit you also need the twin handbrake cable set up. Hope this helps.

Hello and :welcome: to the club Andy.
I'm new to SJ's but this was the first thing I did to mine.. There are some pictures on my build thread which might be helpful?
I think there is also a write up in the diy section.
Let us know how you get on

I'm probably doing rear disc conversion next weekend...
I think I will be using SJ calipers and fitting a 410 prop brake

That way you only have to carry around 1 type of brake pads :)
