Hi All,

Can somebody do me a small favour please. :doublethumbs:

The doodaa on the dipstick that stops the dipstick sliding into the sump has come loose on my dipstick. Would sombody be able measure the distance between the end of the dipstock and the bottom of the doodaa please? I dont know how much oil I got!

Thanks

Doug

I think I have one somewhere, but wont be up the shop until tomorrow. I have a strange feeling there's 2 different length dipsticks for the 410 as well? in fact I'm pretty certain of it!

on the subject of this which dipstick are people using for the 1.6 with the 1.3 sump on it?

Ive just left the standard 1.6 one there but as the pans are different then maybe I should be using the 1.3?

Dan

I can't remember which stick I used...

But I do remember how I worked out which one was right...

* Drain engine oil
* Refill with amount specified in workshop manual
* Insert 1.3 dipstick and check if it reached the oil
* Insert 1.6 dipstick and check the same

Right the 1st 2 dipsticks I found are 197mm from the tip to the bottom edge of the flange on the plastic bit, these 2 are ones from an engine that doesn't have the extension tube for the dipstick on the block, the plastic section just seals in the hole in the block itself. I know I've got another dipstick there that might be the other size if that isn't correct for yours?

Hope that makes sence and helps.
