Has any 1 seen a Fourtrak engine in an sj? I can get hold of a 2.8 turbo lump cheap and thinking about wedging it in. Been told that there big heavy lumps but wouldn't the power you get from it outweigh the cons of the heaviness? Or would it just nose dive everywhere and be useless?
I know you can buy the kits for vw etc but apparently the starter motors and alternators are pretty bullet proof on these when it comes to deep muddy water which is where my sj always is!
Just thought whilst I've got the engine and box out its the perfect time to swap lumps,
Any ideas/help would be fab

My 2p
Although they are a good engine, in an SJ I wouldn't bother, far to heavy! the lightness is the SJs main advantage so its best to keep it that way IMO.

It'll make a great anchor!
Yeah it will be very heavy and change the SJ quite dramatically
I'm sure it could be done but I can't think of ever seeing it done so there's probably a good reason not to.
Saying that, I've seen a V8 Samurai but it had some serious mods done to it (it looked like a Samurai but that was about it)
If you fancy it, go for it and lets see the pics!

Maybe I'll stick to a derv pug engine then, I can swap my vit lump for a 1.9 pug derv off a friend so it's not too bad, where's the cheapest place to get the adaptor plate from? is there enough room to get a turbo 1.9 in them or is a bit too much of a squeeze?
Cheers
