SU Adapter

Who knows where I can get an adapter to fit a HIF 44 to my 1.3 samurai?

I have a 90 degree adaptor thing. It's home-made. It's not too bad during the summer, but during the winter you can forget driving the car - carb icing kills it every time. It doesn't have to get all that cold either!
I'm planning on going throttlebodies if I can get the parts together...

I had a adapter. Never had any problems with it and drove around in -11 for 3 days to go snowboarding.
Considering they are free if you make one they kick the modded manifold on price.
Do love my new manifold mind.

Have u got a TIG welder then Anton?
Adapters perform differently depending on the metal type, thickness, the type of bend, and the angle of bend.
A sharper bend will be hit my the fuel air mix and freeze up.
Steel takes much longer than ali to transfer heat from the manifold (through the adapter) to the carb.

Nope, ARC and MIG only - it's made from mild steel!
Not as bad as stainless, but it's definately causing problems in cold weather. If I put a blowtorch on it for a bit, the car will start and run lovely for a bit, but then as it cools it starts causing trouble again.
Choking the air intake seems to help a lot. I have a little wooden puck I can shove in the snorkel (with a hole drilled through the middle) as a limp-home solution for when I'm offroading the wee beastie.
As it's just been a "toy" for the last couple of years, it hasn't been a problem. But since I'm trying to get the car on the road now, it's gotta go.
I don't think the gasket is helping with the heat transfer issues, either. Still, it's not a big problem for me (yet) and hopefully by the time winter rolls around, I'll have a new block in there and be running a megasquirt injection setup. Or I may still go LPG, if I can get a good kit for less than £silly...
