Vit 1600 engine

I've been looking into a vit 1.6 engine conversion. Carb'd ones seem a bit thin on the ground, so I was wondering is the fuel injection in the head or the inlet manifold on the efi ones. If it's in the manifold could I fit a carb manifold and make it a carb'd engine. The reason is two fold. 1. I don't really fancy having to faf about with the electrics for the efi. 2. Just before my head gasket blew I bought a HIF 44 so already have a carb if this is possible.

I think the manifolds are the same anyway.

Someone might correct me on this but I think the head physically lacks the facility to fit a mechanical fuel pump so you will have to run an elec one.

Yeh dan is right, its pretty much just an electric fuel pump that is needed!
If you're going SU I would personally get rockwatt to convert your manifold

Will a 1300 manifold fit and work on a 1600 head.

I used 1300 inlet and exhaust manifolds on my 1.6 conversion

if you get a carb 1.6 the fuel pump is bigger, I had to attack the inlet with a dremel so it fit around the larger pump

If I get an efi engine would this work?

Thats a high pressure pump, you need a low pressure pump with a max output of 4psi

Also, its ridiculously expensive!!!
I use one of these:

Yes but It will restrict it slightly as the ports are smaller, these inlets are a crap design and flow badly anyway so I would advise a 1.6 inlet.

all 8V head share the same basic design, it's juts the Cam, port/valve sizes etc. that are different.

I checked the difference between the 2 manifolds and at the ports it was only about 1-2mm diff but further in it may be even more restrictive.

The efi manifold is the same as the carb one so just use it or get it converted for SU.

I've been watching this on ebay

It didn't sell, but he's said I can have it for £200
It's a 94 1.6 8v it doesn't say this in the listing but he's told me it comes with the alternator and has done 115k miles.
What do you guys think? Is it worth it?
