the no dosh Vitara revamp

Post by donkeychomp » Thu May 10, 2012 11:36 pm

Need must and my little SJ had to go. Arses. Bought this Vitara for £500 with a years ticket.
The plan is to modify her for off/on road use but for next to no money.
Possible? Well, hope springs eternal etc.

Yes Dan that was the left over paint

Next plan is to junk the side steps and see what she's like in the mud!

So how come the SJ is being replaced by a Vit? I'd keep the SJ and sell the vit  SJs are the better offroader ;) and cheaper to modify

Tidy Vit though :guns:

Sorry for the lack of new info, a long going illness in the family and a forked PC hasn't helped either.

Some progress with Piglet 3 (the vit lol) has been made but sadly with cash spent. The rad and water pump have been replaced, but cheaply! New rad was £40, pump £20...wow. All the little dents have been filled and sprayed in matt black for the mo, I am going to respray her just not sure what colour right now.

Found massive rust holes at the rear of the floor pan so a mate will be welding that all up.

Also spent £20 on a better rear prop...still clunks a bit and I'm not sure why...

Oh and a whopping £50 on a new Sony stereo. It came with a tape player, sheesh.

Pics to come as soon as my new PC arrives...hopefully saturday week.

Alex

ps...wish I could have kept my SJ...defo getting another one day, in the mean time at least it's a Suzuki I have and not a Land Rover!

Good to see you are still around and keeping it Suzuki.

Looks like you've kept to your budget aswell. Any plans for modding it?

Hi Dan

Yes it needs a few mods. The 215 tyres on it give it a 2" lift but it needs to go higher and wider!

Maybe a body lift and some wheel spacers, not sure as yet.

It needs a front diff guard as they are made from ally and one knock and it'll be buggered!

Also looking into an idea for a home made roof...sort of fastback style.

Yep, I saw that diff thingy

But this is the NO dosh revamp...so tools out (snigger) and I'll fabricate one myself, got some 5mm steel lying about so I'll give it a bash (another snigger).

Will post pics next saturday along with the idea for the new roof.
