Modified Inlet manifold

Post by ianedwards » Wed Jun 20, 2012 1:30 pm

Hi, would a modified 1.3 inlet manifold for a sj carb be ok on the vit 1.6.

I spoke to guy who's selling one and says he has one on his 1.6 and it's fine.

Just want to make sure what he says is right,

Cheers

Yeah it will work just fine... I had a modded 1.3 manifold on my vit engine no problems :)

It will work but the ports are slightly smaller so technically it will restrict flow. As we're not really running hi performance engines you probably won't notice much of a difference though. Then again stock inlet manifolds flow so badly I wouldn't worry :hahaha:

Had a good look at both manifolds side by side and though the ports are slightly smaller the most restrictive bit by far is where it spilts the 2nd time to go from 2 to 4 which is pretty much the same on both of them.

Be sure to let us all know if you find a quick and easy fix for that!

I went for the 1.6 manifold as I had both but cant see it making any noteable difference TBH.

Mine you mean ;)

Not bad considering I paid £200 for the manifold and carb originally :P
