What causes krud in the rocker cover?

Post by npjrogers@btinternet.com » Sat Sep 01, 2012 10:47 pm

Just took off the rocker cover to fix a possible oil leak from the rocker cover...The krud/muck in the rocker cover area was unbeleivable.. Black gritty glarr. Now all cleaned and back together.. Is the rocker compartment positive pressure or could it have been sucked in from outside. One of the cover bolts was barely finger tight..

Anyone any ideas.. Have fitted new rocker gasket and torqued to 3 ftlbs as per the manual.. Should i expect further trouble?

could be from a stuck/dirty PCV valve, whip the PCV valve out and give it a good clean/soak in petrol
