hi guys
was out this weekend up the mountain in the welsh valleys
was great day out intill i noticed my mates sj rear wheel sliding out of the diff shaft
i had to jack it up every hundred yards and pop it back in
luckly it happend wen we got to the farm track
he recently had two new wheelbearings and rear drum shoes
could the bearing callaps the first time out????
is ther anything els than the bearing that keeps the axle in the shaft?
thanks
richy

Do you mean the whole halfshaft is coming out. I have heard that some of the aftermarket retainer ring/collars are not a good tight fit.

ye mate think so lol
its just sliding out of the diff
driving along with the rear 16" wider ha
so it is only the bearing holding it in?

Yes it's only the bearing holding it in, but the retainer is holding the bearing onto the shaft.

I've had it happen to me, I was driving through some ruts that got wider
changed the half shaft and used a new collar and it's never happened since.

Telescopic axles. Now there's a bright idea.
