disc rear axle
disc rear axle
Right guys, I'm doing leaf over spring so I'm going to have my axles off, I've got a spare pair of axles that I can do the work on to make it a straight swap.
I'm wanting to weld the rear diff up and build the axle to have rear disc.
Can anybody tell me what I need? I've got a spare pair of axles so have calipers etc. Would like to do it as cheap as possible
Thanks

Diff ratio...
There's three ways of doing things:
The right way,
The wrong way
And my way, which is like the wrong way but faster.

Re: disc rear axle
I should say against a samurai axle. 413 axles are the same width and spring spacing as 410 axles but have samurai sized diffs and a slightly lower ratio.

Re: disc rear axle
I'm also doing this on my new axle as my old one collapsed where someone had done some shocking welding
But got a quick question. What's the best way of getting the drum brake casing off the shaft? I don't want to damage the bearings as they look new, but don't want to cut the casing.
Any suggestions?
Cheers

Re: disc rear axle
How did you get to see the bearings when the drum is still on the shaft. You need to undo the 4 bolts behind the drum to remove the shaft
Normally the drum is removed with a slide hammer, but the shaft is still in the axle.
