auto free wheeling hubs ???????????????????
auto free wheeling hubs ???????????????????
Hi Guys
I had a set of free wheeling hubs on my 20l diest vit and when i siold it i took them off and fitted them to my 1.6 petrol auto,
all i did was remove them from one to the other and since then it seems that my little 1.6 petrol will not go into 4 wd.
i have changed them over off side to near side etc and still the same.
select 4 wd and move forward nothing happens to the front wheels all the drive is still on the back, no clicking as if they where trying to engage etc.
i did no prep the the car at all just removed and fitted the auto hubs to my 1.6 and placed the ones on it onto the old diesel etc.
can you help.
bob.

Some are just mechanical I think robbie.
Personally I'd just bin them and gets some manual ones, automatic ones always seem to fail when you need them most!

i had these on my 2lt diesel and they worked fine, just wanted to ask did i need to do anything to the hubs before i attached them,
like: remove a circlip or something, as all i did was remove them from the diesel and fitted them onto the petrol vit ??

When you removed them did you have to do anything special or did you just unbolt them?

cheers robbie
ill have to leave them for now as i will need to strip them down and have a look, i think they are not fixed sides ( ie: one HAS to go on the left and the other on the right etc) but im out of work just now and will have to keep them on there until i have time to have a look,
thank you

You've been fighting with those for months
Found a workshop manual since I last posted up some info on "Difflock".
