1.7 isuzu cluch problem
after a lil advice i recently bort a sj with the 1.7 isuzu engine in with carlton gear box, but sounds like the release bearing is makeing a hell of a noise it has been replace apparantly befor i bort it so shount be that but he woz saying that there is some sort of spacer that u have to fit between bearing an cluth fork but he dont no if it is the right lenth can any body help

Yes there is a spacer you need to get machined up, my mate had one done for his conversion, ill ask him if he has a drawing or some dimensions.

sweet that will help loads im guna have 2 tack mine appart now see if its got 1 an wot size it is if it has , an how much damage has bin done 2 bearing

does he no wot the release bearing is out of as mines hydraaulic 1 like that but normal carlton box uses cluch fork type, had a bit of a look and fink it the 1 out of the astra but cant b sure

The spacer I needed when I done my Isuzu conversion was more like 35mm.

i guess its just going to b trial and error the, just got pull the box off still see wot size is in it now

Well mines a 1.5 td Isuzu so you'll prob be running a different clutch to me. I would more than likely say the release baring is knackered and it hasn't been done recaintly. It's not an easy conversion to do and I can't see someone going to all that trouble and not making 100% sure the spacer was the right length. If its a Carlton box they've got a big hole the opposite side of where the fork goes in. You may be able to get enough acces through that to check.
