Revs/Hunting

Ok so the day has come and got her started today but there are issues.
So its a 1600 8v HIF44 SU (Breather Blocked Off) Yellow Spring and BFM Needle on Homemade Adapter with a Facet Low Pressure Fuel Pump.
Got it to start with little problems.
Once running she seems to be hunting a little and when you rev it the revs do not fall back quick enough.
Any thoughts as I am a little "Cheesed Off" today and I dont really want to give in to it !!!

Thanks in Advance

As long as there isnt too much else wrong with a SU this is a good guide to getting it roughly in tune.

What do you mean by breather blocked off? Can you post a pic of the set up and how it's all plumbed please.

What oil are you running in the dash pot? Does the piston rise and fall freely when you lift it without the engine running?

I'm sure we can help you get it set up and running

Guess he means the breather on the carb itself is capped off and the one from the engine is still going to the airbox?

Yes thats correct well apart from i havnt plumbed in the breather from rocker box yet.
Looking on the net it could be pointing towards drawing air from the housing i.e around throttle spindle etc.
Its suggested you spray carb cleaner around body and see if revs drop as it is non combustable.

yeah or maybe a leak in the adapter or its mounting.

My first adapter was leaking and it was well hard to tune.

They also get fuel leaks around the choke spindle o-ring if it hasn't been used for a while and its got dry which causes some pretty erratic behaviour.

I would get it nice and hot and give it a little bit of a tune up and if it doesn't sort it start looking at an air or fuel leak.
