Re: clutch gone :(
If i was you i would say what do i use my sj for do you do alot of road miles? or is just and off road toy?
if your sj is an off road toy i would recommend a paddle clutch i have one in my sj and i never look back , but however if yours is a road goer is well then paddle clutches can be a pain on the road in stopping and starting traffic etc
and im a engine out person to be honest, otherpeople may disagree but i think if you take the engine out you can get a good look at things and give it a good inspection etc!

Re: clutch gone :(
not to sure about the clutches
but i found it easier to take the gearbox out as ive done it both ways had to change engines from a 1.0 to a 1.0 but left the gearbox in and it was hard trying to line it up with the clutch and then i found a 5 speed box and i found it easier and quicker to remove gearbox way
but thats me a 413 could be totally diffrent

Re: clutch gone :(
maybe it was becouse i had no engine crane to do it with just a strong piece of long wood across the engine bay and wigled it in to placedazerede wrote:not to sure about the clutches

I've always said ill take engine out if I was changing mine. Least bell housing bolts are easy to get to
I'D RATHER PUSH MY SUZUKI THEN DRIVE A LANDROVER
Re: clutch gone :(
On a standard sj I drop the gearbox.
Drive the front up onto some ramps or jack it up on some axle stands to give you some more room, then you can just lie on your back and lift the gearbox out and back in.
I can do it an about an hour that way and there's less things to disconnect.
I always use LUK clutches, always last better than other aftermarket clutches I find.

Re: clutch gone :(
I took my gearbox off. The transfer box doesn't need to come of.
I did look more silly than normal with a gearbox sat on my chest thinking now how do I get it off without crushing one hand or the other when I drop it to one side
