tyres....how big can I go? what do you recommend?

Post by theboy » Thu Jan 24, 2013 7:47 pm

Hi Guys,

with a samurai just with add a leaf what size tyres do you recommend i can go to comfortably?

Im looking at Insa Turbo Sahara. My Suzuki rims seem to be slightly deeper dish on the front and a even more on the back as apposed to what I normally see on theses jeeps as standard (not sure if they were an upgrade?)

cheers

tom :D

I'd say something equal to 30" maximum and you might still need to fold over the seams over at the back of the front arches so they dot catch.

As scottie says. Upto 30" is ok. Any bigger than that and the problem is bulkhead clearance. I have 31s on. Did a virtual lift to start and had to take approx 3" out of the bulk head for adequete clearance on articulation.

Now running +1.5" springs and they still use most of the space i created when i cut the bulkhead.

cheers for the replies guys,

Do you literally hammer the seam flat or is it best to put little cuts in with an angle grinder then fold over?

These are the tyres im thinking of from camskill - insa turbo Sahara

which one of these would be best with my limited modifications, you say i can go up to 30" but just wondered which of these sizes suits best -

Im guessing a 215/80/15 might be ok? the anus currently has 205/70/15 at the moment

size options in sahara -
R15" - 195/80/15, 195/80R15
R15" - 195/15, 195R15
R15" - 215/75/15, 215/75R15
R15" - 215/80/15, 215/80R15
R15" - 215/15, 215R15
R15" - 31/1050/15, 31/10.50R15

cheers, Tom

I just hammered mine over

These are the tyres im thinking of from camskill - insa turbo Sahara

R15" - 195/80/15, 195/80R15 27x7.68
R15" - 195/15, 195R15
R15" - 215/75/15, 215/75R15 28x8.46
R15" - 215/80/15, 215/80R15 29x8.46
R15" - 215/15, 215R15
R15" - 31/1050/15, 31/10.50R15

cheers, Tom
I'd go for either of these
R15" - 215/75/15, 215/75R15 28x8.46
R15" - 215/80/15, 215/80R15 29x8.46
31x10.50 would probably be too big.
